Youth Development/Leadership
PRY uses a positive youth development model to prepare young people to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood. Through this approach, we offer programs and activities to assist young people in gaining competencies that will enable them to grow, develop their skills and become healthy, responsible and caring adults. Rather than viewing youth as "at-risk" or "problems," they are seen for their promise. Our perspective, using this asset-building model, is that each child has skills, interests and capabilities that, if nurtured, will continue to expand.
We strive to help young people develop the inner resources and skills they need to cope with the pressures that may lead them into unhealthy and anti-social behavior. As a result, PRY's programs do prevent unsafe behavior; but beyond that, we produce young adults who are self-reliant, confident and responsible members of society. Participants in every program receive comprehensive services including counseling, college readiness preparation, and technology skills.
