Carmen Colon, Executive Administrative Assistant

Carmen Colon has worked at Project Reach Youth since 1995. She heard about the organization through a PRY supporter, and was initially employed as a part-time receptionist. Later she was hired full-time and has worked at PRY as secretary, administrative assistant, and executive administrative assistant.

Prior to her employment at PRY, she worked for nine years as a legal secretary and earned her A.A.S. from New York City Technical College. While working at PRY she earned a B.A. in Business Communications from Baruch College. She has learned about all aspects of the non-profit world and has special experience with government contracts.

Her years at the front desk of the main office have given her experience in all aspects of the organization. As the face of PRY she has assisted participants, staff, and visitors with all the many requests, needs, and requirements to keep a human services agency running. The best way to describe her role is the hub in the middle of the wheel.

Ms. Colon works closely with the Development Department in coordinating the special fundraising events for PRY throughout the year. She recently had the opportunity of volunteering and providing support to the Immigrant Services Department in assisting citizenship students preparing for the naturalization interview. What she enjoys most - is seeing the PRY participants learn, grow and move on with their lives.
